This bulletin is to announce the free upgrading service of the IC-7800 firmware. One of the improvements obtained with this upgrading, will be an improved noise blanker and low band performance.
We are planning to upload the updated firmware on our support website very soon, so that you can download the latest firmware and upgrade the IC-7800 by yourself.
It is not necessary for you to send your IC-7800 back to your Icom dealer, Icom Distributor, or Icom directly. All of the IC-7800s exported to overseas markets*1 are able to be upgrades by downloading latest firmware from the Internet.
*1: Except the following serial numbers. It is necessary to make a hardware improvement to add the firmware upgrading capability: 0201001, 0201002, 0201003, 0201004, 0201009, 0201011, 0201015, 0201018, and 0201021. We are now preparing the firmware upgrade website, and its completion is scheduled as follows:
a) The release of a simple firmware upgrade to add a screensaver, '@' mark in CW message memory etc. around the end of July 2004.
b) A major firmware upgrade package to upgrade the noise blanker and low band performance among other improvements, will be available around the end of August 2004.
Updating procedure documents will be also released with firmware at the same time.
